Blog Entry 4.1- IFS H/W Infrastructure

The image above is showing how exactly a computer functions. The computer reads objects as 1 or 0 which means on or off. For every letter, there is a code so if you write a word like "hello" the computer goes through a code for each letter. The 8-bit code for the letters is called the ASCII. After the codes inputs onto the computer, the computer then saves or stores the codes inside the H/W. Then you see the word hello through the monitor after the computer outputs the codes.

The purpose of a cost benefit analysis is to contrast the total expected tangible costs versus the tangible benefits.

Blog Entry 2.1- Globilization Enablers

Flickr.com offers for users to upload pictures from events so people can look at them. Flickr did not create online photo sharing though.

3 Enables
  • The release of Netscape web browser- Without the start of the internet, Flickr could not have been created.
  • Uploading- Flickr needed this enabler in order for them to allow people to put their photos onto the website.
  • The steroids- This enabler helps Flickr because it made the world more digital and mobile which was something they needed to start the company.

Blog entry 3.2- building a business case

1. Fact (intelligent system)- Because of the intelligent system, we are now able to increase the speed of organizing our medicine by doubling our previous rate.

2. Faith (Functional Area Information System)- Although we may not be able to support using this information system very well, we feel that by implementing the functional area information system we will be able to make it easier for customers to be able to pick up their medicine in a quick and timely fashion.

3. Fear (Transaction Processing System)- This information system is critical in containing our business. If we do not implement this transaction processing system soon our competition will run us out of business.

Order medicine- The information system allows us to communicate with our suppliers for medicine and supplies we need in order to run our business.

Make a list of patient info need medicine- The information system allows us to know what exact medicine the patient needs.

Organize medicine by name and/or customer-

Bag up medicine for customers- The process is still being done by a human.(manually)

Customer pays- The information system allows us to use day to day in order to have our customers pay for their medicine and for our business to stay organized.
